It’s not the story I’d write today, probably, but it’s the one I wrote then, and the longest I’ve done I’m a touch nervous about sharing it (I say, while posting it publicly in the past), but on the other hand, I talk about Touhou writing a lot on here. Touhou Writing Just for the record This is entirely facetiousĪt more or less this time last year, I wrote a story. Gentle reader, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you’ve written Touhou fanfiction, you are probably just a gothic and/or gothic romance author. And then you have hell coming up in SA, and whatever you call the taoists… it really goes on and on.ħ: At least in fanworks, almost inevitably, there will be strong romantic overtones between the humans and the aforementioned terrible mansion-dwelling monsters. And Imperishable Night if you count dodging death. I mean, consider the number of ghosts and other undead in the cast. Granted, somewhat less inevitable in fanworks, but very popular still.Ħ: A strong focus on death and the macabre. And there are so, so many around that normal people would not be advised to leave their safe little village at night.ģ: A preoccupation with the huge elaborate mansions and manors that half of said monsters and other supernatural beings live in.Ĥ: A nonstop fixation on a vampire or two (okay, okay, so this is basically just the fandom).ĥ: Inevitably, a human heroine in all this. You might be surprised by what the signs point to, I don’t know.ġ: A very large number of assorted monsters, creatures of the night et cetra, drawn from a wide range of myths and folklore.Ģ: These things are scary, potentially. I thought I’d take a few minutes to review a few of the common recurring features of Touhou, some of which applies for the actual canon setting, and some of which just comes up a lot in fanworks. On this run? No, because it’s been a fairly fraught run all around. On an unrelated note, I don’t know if you’re using the wiki at all for assistance, but did you manage to beat the boss on floor 6 or 9? You hopefully know what i’m talking about xD It’s less effective late game, but hits like a damn tank earlier on. The idea behind Parsee is to have hina slap debuffs on everything, then have either parsee or someone else with terror (I usually use Komachi) inflict the status, then finish off with Parsee’s strongest skill. In addition, one of her skills boosts her stats for every debuffed unit on the field, another skill boosts dark damage (which is the main damage source for her AND hina), and the last important one inflicts up to 32% more damage on an enemy with a status effect. When Hina uses her field-wide debuff, Parsee won’t be affected. She works WONDERS with Hina due to having perfect immunity to debuffs. Or to be more accurate, she can dish out the serious pain when paired with Hina. And if I happen to fail to kill some things in a timely manner… well, you know. Unfortunately everything here is fiddly with regards to just what will kill it, or is extremely fast, or just has an irritating amount of evasion. I beat the 9F boss two levels below the minimum, annnd then cleared 10F to find I’m seven levels below the minimum, hence the grind. Right now I’m using Nazrin (bless her) to assist in leveling. Anyway, I’ve beaten the game a couple times, but Patchouli and Kaguya are a touch suspect in some ways, much as I like them in other ways. Has damage? Huh, I assumed she was just a Mind-tank, but I’ve never used her seriously.
